In June 2019, the University of Tennessee’s College of Social Work and College of Veterinary Medicine hosted the Access to Veterinary Care Symposium. The goal of the symposium was to educate attendees about the lack of veterinary care and introduce AlignCare™ as a viable solution.
The Program for Pet Health Equity at the University of Tennessee is pleased to provide you with Proceedings from the 2019 Access to Veterinary Care Symposium. The Proceedings serve as a summary of the presentations and workgroup discussions and recommendations.
The AVCC Report
On December 17, 2018, the Access to Veterinary Care Coalition, or AVCC, released the report Access to Veterinary Care: Barriers, Current Practices, and Public Policy via open access. This was a two-year project, funded through the generosity of Maddie’s Fund, and consisted of a diverse group of for-profit and nonprofit veterinary services providers, animal welfare and social service professionals, as well as educators.
The report is intended to serve as
a guide for 1) veterinarians, 2) animal welfare organizations, 3) legislators,
4) community leaders, and 5) other stakeholders as they seek to improve access
to veterinary care.
